Unkindness is a phenomenal studio full of kind and skilled artists. I’ve gotten tattoos from Kingsley, Frankee, and Jay so far (who are all wonderful to work with), but would trust anyone at this shop to do great work. The front desk staff is always so kind and welcoming, and the shop itself is an awesome space with good vibes and decor. My partner and I have also attended a couple of their events (and hope to attend more), which were a lot of fun and run well!

I travelled from Wisconsin to Richmond to have a tattoo done by Mandi Johnson. The tattoo shop is beautiful with so much interesting art on the walls. The prices quoted were exactly what I expected, and Mandi made quick work of doing the tattoo. I would definitely consider travelling to Unkindness Art for another tattoo in the future.

Mandi is the reason for the season, spooky season! She blasted my knee cap with color, transforming it into a whimsical wonderland featuring the cutest jackalope, some mushrooms, and Steven the beetle—all draped in fabulous spiderwebs and flowers!
The shop is absolutely incredible and everyone was so kind and friendly! I loved spending the day with such a wonderful group of people, I will definitely be back for more artwork.
Don’t forget to pick up some of the artists merch when you visit. Everyone is just so talented 😍

Probably doesn’t need to be said, but this is hands down an incredible tattoo studio. Everyone is incredible – so I’m going to especially speak to their apprentices. I got a tattoo from Kingsley way back when they were an apprentice low many years ago, and it was a phenomenal experience, and the tattoo looks great. I have also gotten a tattoo from their latest apprentice Matt (@Mashu.ink on insta) – and it was another absolute success. Both times, I felt so well-cared for, the tattoos are so cute and so well done, and I got to help in someone’s education! Obviously their regular staff are beyond AMAZING – but I just wanted to give a glow up to their apprentice program since it seems to be working so darn well!!
