Redemption Tattoo Customer Reviews:
Also, I rarely find a place worth the time to write; but, here goes my second.
In a day and age when it seems as though there is a tattoo shop on virtually every corner in town, I can tell you that those are the places you don’t want to go.
Many shops just give a person a cute little symbol to help them remember someone, or provide a fun thing to do with friends one night when you decide you “want to get tattoos together;” and therefore, you get what you pay for: something you’ll probably want to cover up in five years.
At Redemption Tattoo you get an amazing experience! Here, it doesn’t matter if you’re skinny or fat, “beautiful,” or average, disabled or the Vitruvian Man, struggle with your mental health or are the poster child of normalcy, everyone is welcome.
When you walk into the shop, it’s like every person that works there has the uncanny ability to look through your exterior and “see” who you truly are on the inside, which is ironic since they specialize in transforming the outside.
From the funny guy at the front who plays with his fidgets, and tells everyone about that great new band, to the women who are killin’ it with their own amazing style, tattoos, and stories, to the owners who clearly care about every moment of your experience in their shop from the extraordinary cleanliness to the “vibe” and aesthetic of the shop; it’s is all on point!
Going to Redemption is experiential from the moment you walk in the door and are greeted like you’re the old friend they’re glad to see, until long after you leave(and then can’t wait to return), you feel like you just went to an event, not just “went and got a tattoo.”
At this shop, there is an artist for everyones’ style preference. It’s a place that can allow you to walk in feeling like you’re one more person, crumbling in a world of broken toys, to then remembering that you are beautiful, and somehow, the tattoo you just earned just made you feel slightly more whole again.
The saying goes that “beauty is only skin deep,” and Redemption Tattoo both proves and disproves this in so many ways.
While this shop hands down has some of the most talented artists in the area, it’s important to note they don’t just slap a basic template on your arm and then charge you half your paycheck for a crummy piece; I’ve had those tattoos, too, but they are mostly faded now, and I have no real memories of the experience. Here, artists meet with clients to find the right tattoo, and take care of the whole person who are in their chairs.
I’ve now been going to Redemption for over a decade and have loved every tattoo and appointment I’ve had. I have laughed so hard it hurt, I’ve heard funny, crazy, stories from artists and clients alike, and had moments where I cried, not from the pain, but because I felt I belonged, and was getting a piece of art that would start to show the world who I really am on the inside. And that’s what I meant by that quote being both true and untrue at Redemption:
while they absolutely create stunning pieces on everyones’ bodies, what’s amazing is it’s like their artists can see inside your heart and mind, beyond the sometimes ugly layers of scarred skin, and place on it a piece of you from the recesses of your heart, the real you, sometimes a little broken and torn, hiding from the world, and make it beautiful, unique, and captivating on the outside.
So, clearly I love this place because of my experiences there. But truly, I recommend Redemption to every person I meet, those who complements my tattoos, or says they think they want to get their first one. Redemption is far beyond “just getting a tattoo.” I want everyone to have the same transformative experience I have had time and time again, so that they too can feel a little more whole, and just a little more seen.
Me my idea wasn’t possible. I went to pino brothers instead. I got tattooed there by a newer artist. He was so kind and patient and I had the best tattooing experience; it’s a memory I cherish. That tattoo changed my life, it gave me courage to ask for what I want and defy the stigma ink has in my culture. I am happy with my just ok tattoo but amazing experience and would prioritize that any day.
6 years later (and 15 seasons of inkmaster watched) I’m looking to get another tattoo, American traditional lighthouse. Google and Reddit pointed me to this shop. I was thinking of visiting the shop again and giving it another chance. After reading the reviews, it seems my experience wasn’t an isolated incident, others have had this experience too. Bummer
