When I knew last year that we were traveling to the Island and going to Kona I started looking for the best tattoo shop and the best artist in town.
I asked a few friends from the Island where is a good shop and who is the best? They said Packing Ink. Get in with Kainoa if you can but you got to book early. I contacted Lindsey and she was able to find a spot for me..
My wife, daughter and son were also got a tattoo a different day by Kahanu… He did an amazing job as well…
We like it so much that we booked another trip again for Christmas and New Year’s….
We are traveling all the way fro Reno, Nv just to have more work done from them.
Can’t wait to come back and see everyone and relax while getting some more ink therapy.
Highly recommend there shop.. in Kona and also no in Helo…

The Big Island has always been a very special place for our family with many, many happy memories. Sadly, we lost our son Jonathan 3 1/2 years ago. He loved tattoos. When he died my wife and I decided we wanted to get a tattoo (our first!) in his honor. I wanted to remember Jonathan in a special way with a sea turtle. In researching artists, I came across Packing Ink and could see that it was well respected by both locals and visitors. I was also really touched by the “God First” comment on the website.

On the day of the tattoo I told my story to Kainoa and my desire to honor my son in such a way that would also honor Hawaiian culture. I asked him if somehow he could incorporate my son’s initials in the design.

As the work was being completed we took a break and I got my first peek at the work. I started to tear up because it was EXACTLY what I wanted. To this day I still can’t believe what an amazing job Kainoa did. His work was entirely done by freehand. The inticrate lines were just perfect.

I also just want to comment what a kind person Kainoa is. I felt so at peace around him. It is my pleasure to 100% recommend Packing Ink!

Kainoa and Lindsey are some of the best people we have ever met, they treat us like family and Kainoa has amazing talent with tattoos. Highly recommend going to him if you’re on the big island looking to get a high quality tattoo. The shop has such a great family vibe to it and it’s always a fun time. Such an amazing experience! From the moment you walk in your greeted by bright and happy faces, it’s such a welcoming sight. Everyone helps you to feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. Conversations flow easily and all the artist are very attentive and creative with each design they do. Not only will you leave the shop with a beautiful design but you’ll have formed a bond that will last you a lifetime.

Out of all of the places in Hawaii that we have researched for tattoos, Packing ink surpassed our expectations everytime. We’ve flown friends here to get tattoos from Kainoa and we get our tattoos from Kainoa. Professional, family oriented folks and they do an absolutely incredible job. Everytime. Cant wait to start my next tattoo project. Ask for Kainoa but honestly, every single person employed here is professional and does absolutely incredible work.
