Youcore Tattoo (Sweaty Betty’s ) Customer Reviews:
Last Sunday (12/3/2023) my friends and I decided to get tattoos for our study abroad experience. We looked online for the best line work and this was one of the options that was highly rated. We looked at the website, Instagram and google photos from the tattoo shop and everything looked great. Originally, our tattoo artist was going to be Cosma but they cancelled our original appointment 3 hours before and had us reschedule for Sunday with Sara.
Sunday morning we arrived at the tattoo shop and immediately we could tell that the woman was disheveled. She talked about her sex life from the night before which in my opinion could have been left out. We have gotten tattoos in the States but never in Italy so we were not sure of the cultural norms for their tattoo shops.
One of the tattoos was of the words “peace and plenty” however the artist continued to get the words wrong when discussing the tattoo which raised immediate concerns. She continued on with the tattoo and when it was done, we told her what we wanted fixed but she made the tattoo worse. She asked what specifically on the tattoo could be fixed, my friend showed her, and (with my friend still standing up) tried to correct her mistakes with the tattoo gun. It was concerning but since it was handwriting we figured that was the reason the tattoo was so shaky.
When it came time for my tattoo, I was apprehensive after seeing hers so the artist gave me time to think about what I wanted to do. I asked if I could go after another friend to give myself more time to think and she said no. She proceeded to insist that I get on the table and get it. I got it but since it was under my armpit it looked good from far away and I was content.
The last person to get the tattoo had the worst experience. She put the stencil down twice and did not clean properly to redo it. The stencil left her leg purple and when she redid the stencil it was unclear to see. We thought nothing of it since we assumed we would know what she was doing. The artist also used petroleum jelly while tattooing. There was no alcohol in the cleaning. None of us saw the tattoo until it was done. When we looked at the tattoo we could not clearly see what it was because she was not cleaning it and there was so much ink from the fresh tattoo and from the stencil. The artist put the second skin on immediately without cleaning it so we were unaware of how bad it was. Coming home we put the flash light onto the tattoo to get a better look and it was horrible. It was so bad that my friend immediately went to another tattoo shop to see how and when she could fix it. After going to another shop they were in shock and said it was unfixable. They say that due to the depth and excess lines, there was no way that they could do a cover-up tattoo.
The same day we tried to contact the shop asking for our money back and she never answered. We tried reaching out multiple times but we heard no response. In order to get our money back we scheduled a fake appointment and had to ask her there.
This was a traumatizing experience and the three of us felt taken advantage of. We all have gotten multiple tattoos before but since this was a new country we were not able to spot the red flags. I hope no one ever experiences this
I went in and they were extremely professional and polite, answering all my questions about my tattoo and giving me feedback on things to follow to compliment my other tattoos.
My friend had been tattoo’d there before and her tattoo is also amazing. They were very clean, very professional and very cool people. Having lived in Florence (and going back every year) this will be the place I always return to.
